Playing games with Y3/4!

Year 3/4 designed games for us to play, and then they came to visit us and helped us play them!  Thanks for thinking of us :)

Our third mission!

We are still hot on the trail of Sally Mander and have been following her through Canada. We emailed Agent Valentine when we discovered she was going to leave Canada and head for England. We received the following reply:

 

So we set to work, writing descriptions of Sally in Welsh.  We have sent them off so that Dai Border can hopefully intercept her tomorrow!

A visit from Brace's Bread!

Today we enjoyed a visit from Brace's Bread who showed us how bread was made. We even got to make it ourselves! Have a look at the photos...

We are on the trail again!

We worked out where Sally was headed - to Canada to watch the Women's World Cup! We emailed spycatchers and got another message from Agent Valentine... So we set to work, using Just 2 Easy on Hwb to make charts and graphs...

We tracked Sally Mander on her spybook, but we were too late!

Our first mission!

We researched the top tourist attractions in Australia and then made an information pack using Pic Collage, Tellagami or Book Creator, which we uploaded to the Spycacher website.  Hope they help catch Sally!

We have been given a mission!

We got sent a link to a web page about Sally Mander, and were able to work out where she was going...

Once we emailed Spycatcher to tell them Sally was heading for Australia, they sent us this video...

I Spy in the woodlands!

Mrs Price told us about a spy being in the area, and to look out for something suspicious. We went up to the woodlands to tell some stories when we discovered an old case!! When we thought it was safe to do so, we took it back to class and opened it. We used gloves so as to not put our fingerprints on it. When we looked inside it was full of spy equipment! We were so excited and we got in touch with a special spy catcher organisation who have given us our own mission! We are now on the trail of the infamous spy Sally Mander! Big Wide World

Our trip to Techniquest

Our Spring topic!

Our topic for the spring term is 'Supermarket!' This project has a science focus and we will learn about a range of materials and their properties used for packaging in shops and supermarkets and about the issues surrounding waste and re-cycling. At the heart of this project the children will write and follow a range of instructions and develop additional skills in creating labels, lists and captions. The children will then apply their skills and understanding by setting up and managing their own section of a supermarket! In this project the children will learn: • How various materials react to being heated,cooled,mixed,twisted, crushed and changed using a range of processes; • What products are sold at supermarkets and how they are packaged; • How to find information by interviewing, using ICT and first hand experience; • How to follow and write a recipe; • How to use metric measurements of weight; • To identify the features of a fair test; • How to be aware of safety and hygiene when preparing food; • To record their work in writing and through the use of digital media; • To solve simple problems using money and recognise different coins; • How to design and make packaging and labelling using various techniques and vocabulary. In literacy we will be looking at the book 'The Shopping Basket' by John Burningham, as well as writing instructions. In mathematics our focus will be counting in 2s, 5s and 10s as well as number bonds to 10 and doubles. Our PE day remains on Monday.
